Your Path, Step by Step

From first step to first dose

A quick walk-through of what to expect—eligibility, your formulation, getting set up, and staying on track.

1
Eligibility

What is compounding?

Before we proceed, we confirm your prescription is eligible for compounding. Rx3 prepares custom compounded GLP-1 medications—not the manufactured commercial products or their generic versions.

Your prescriber must indicate that you’re appropriate for a compounded formulation—specifically one that includes levocarnitine, which is included in all of our formulations to support:

  • Muscle-mass maintenance
  • Reduced fatigue
  • Enhanced fat metabolism
If a justification for levocarnitine isn’t included, you’ll need to either obtain the manufactured product, or contact your prescriber to update the prescription so it meets compounding requirements. We can provide them forms and guidance documents to make this easy.

What We Prepare

We currently compound the following—all including levocarnitine:

Semaglutide

+ Levocarnitine 15 mg/mL
Tirzepatide

Getting Set Up

Next steps

Initially, we’ll work with you to:

  • Confirm your contact and patient information
  • Review your prescribed quantity and dosing
  • Go over pricing
  • Coordinate pickup or delivery options
  • Determine whether you need syringes
Pickup is always free at our Chester or Short Pump locations. Home delivery is available for a fee based on your address—typically $15–$25.

Once we confirm everything with you, we’ll give you a final price and collect payment. Then we begin preparing your product.

4
Your Medication

How it’s supplied

Your medication is dispensed in 1 mL (100-unit) vials only. The vials won’t look completely full—this is normal. The vial holds 2 mL and leaves room for empty space. Most doses are a fraction of the vial and last many weeks at smaller amounts.

Storage: keep the vial you’re actively drawing from in the refrigerator. Unopened vials can be stored in the freezer until you’re ready to use them. At higher doses you may need multiple vials to last a reasonable amount of time.

Your provider sets your dose based on your progress, side effects, and goals. We usually start low and increase in 4-week increments, though dosing can differ. Doses typically range from 0.1 mL (10 units) to 1 mL (100 units), often weekly—but variations occur. Your bottle is labeled with your prescriber’s instructions. Helpful flyers on side effects and supplements are in our resources below.

Supplies

Syringes

You’ll receive syringes as needed for a small fee—please request them at the time of your order. They come in bags of 10, in either 0.5 mL (50-unit) or 1 mL (100-unit) sizes.

You’ll draw up your own dose from the 1 mL vial; how long a vial lasts depends on your prescribed dose. New to subcutaneous injections? Watch our instructional injection-technique video—it’s very informative.

It’s normal to use the end of one vial and the beginning of the next to complete a dose. Keeping track of your doses makes this much easier.

After You Start

Staying on track

We strongly recommend keeping a simple log of your doses and remaining medication. It helps you request refills on time and avoid missed doses. Please note that processing can take up to one week, so plan refills ahead.

If you ever need to delay a dose, don’t worry—this isn’t a medical emergency. Most patients simply resume when medication is available, though a brief dose adjustment is sometimes recommended. You can always reach our pharmacist or prescriber for guidance.

For refill planning, keep your dose log updated and request refills early. Processing can take up to one week, so planning ahead helps avoid missed doses.
